You deserve time and space for yourself. To think about the things you’d love to do, to be creative and to move your body and mind in tranquil, coastal surroundings here in beautiful Cornwall. Let me provide this space for you at my Wild Words and Water retreat.
Wild Words and Water
This retreat is a route to write. It’s a unique, special alchemy of the outdoors and its inherent ability to coax your creativity to the fore if you give it a little time and the right gentle prompting.
There are often so many things in our lives that hold us back from putting ourselves first; family, work, chores and just the day-to-day pressures of our busy lives. These mean that the space we need to think is consumed, and when we finally grab moments, we are low on energy and short on inspiration. Creativity is the first thing to be shelved, but no longer.
With this magical team, you’ll be guided to relax with peers, collaborate, and allow your creativity to emerge. You will create writing you are proud of, whether you choose to share it with us or just enjoy the time to put pen to paper privately, and begin the process of bringing your ideas to life.
Gently throw in some guided sea dips at one of the estate’s private beaches with our team’s professional swimming coach, some blissful Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra, body movement and coastal walks, as well as nourishing home-made food from Chefs Jasmine and Lynney… and this just might be the escape you’ve always wanted.
You’ll be hosted by me, Gail Muller, and my amazing team. Alongside us will be guest speakers, who will bring a wealth of experience and knowledge with them.
Previous guest speakers have included:
Sunday Times Bestselling author and founder of the breast cancer charity Coppafeel; Kris Hallenga.
Amongst her many incredible talents, Kris also knows about the power of the outdoors and creativity. In fact, we hiked the West Highland Way together as we put the finishing touches to our debut books, and used the movement and immersion in nature to stir and hone our words.
Esteemed and highly experienced publisher and editor; Miranda West.
Miranda is the founder and publisher of The Do Book Co., in association with The DO Lectures. Prior to setting up and running the company, she spent over two decades working in the publishing industry with editorial positions held at Routledge, Creation Books, André Deutsch, and most recently, Penguin Random House as senior commissioning editor of Vermilion and acting editorial director of Ebury Press.
I’ll be waiting to meet you at our stunning private Helford estate on the afternoon of Monday 15th May. You’ll enjoy a very special escape amongst our 50 acres of meadow and woodland, on two private beaches, and in both wings of the beautiful house. Then, you’ll depart the morning of Friday 19th May, after a nourishing breakfast and a final trip down to the sea should you choose.
A more detailed itinerary of the week’s activities will follow, but you can look forward to writing workshops, creative prompt sessions and Q&As with special guests. There will of course be time to write, draft, share (optional), as well as to give and receive feedback should you wish.
These creative elements of the retreat are interspersed with activities deliberately tailored to stir your imagination, stimulate ideas and to bring you gently back into your body whilst allowing the natural world to relax you. There will be Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra with our wonderful teacher Heinke, guided walks along the coast, meadows and woodland with myself, gentle movement, posture and strength building workshops, and sea swimming sessions with our highly qualified coaches. You can join in as much or as little as you feel you’d like to, whilst taking plenty of down time for yourself to walk the grounds, read or just think and daydream.
I can’t wait to meet you there, to hear all about who you are and what you would love to create.
“I would not have changed a thing or a moment. There is nothing I can suggest or say that would have made the Wild Words and Water retreat better. And it wasn’t the context that will remain with me – that was all excellent. It will be the memory of the strong resilient women you have gathered, the laughter and the stories. In so many ways this has been a more profound experience than any of the countless yoga and ‘personal development’ retreats I have been on. One of the top experiences of my (long!) life.”

“In just a few days Gail managed to gently coax words out of my head and on to that blank piece of paper. Since then I have found a deep joy in the process of writing and have written many words and filled many blank pages. From the bottom of my heart, Gail, I thank you.”

“I didn’t want to leave! I made great connections with amazing, strong women from all walks of life. I was grateful to meet Miranda, a publisher, and Gail & Kris, published authors, who were extremely helpful with advice and answering questions. The food was Michelin rated. The location was beautiful and inspiring. The yoga, walks, and sea swimming were what my body needed to feel inspired. The best part of the retreat was sharing Gail’s positive energy.”
